Citra IPA – batch #2

This is the American IPA brewed on April 4. It’s gorgeous. The late hopping comes through strong and [the beer] doesn’t seem to suffer from the spritzing wort chiller partially dousing the flame during the boil.

All-Grain Recipe for 5 gallons:
11 lb 8 oz 2-Row Malt
2 lb Carared
1 lb Crystal 40L
8 oz Honey Malt
8 oz Red Wheat Malt

Mash for 60 minutes at 152F

Collect wort (~7-7.5 gallons) and boil for 90 minutes

Add hops for bittering/flavor/aroma
0.5 oz Citra  30 min from end of boil
0.5 oz Citra  25 min from end of boil
0.5 oz Citra  20 min from end of boil
0.5 oz Citra  15 min from end of boil
0.5 oz Citra  10 min from end of boil
0.5 oz Citra  05 min from end of boil
1.0 oz Citra  01 min from end of boil
1.0 oz Citra   at end of boil
1.0 oz Citra   in fermenter on day 4

Pitch with Safale 05 dry yeast or comparable

Pre-Boil Gravity: 1.046 SG
OG: 1.055 – 67 SG
FG: 1.009-13 SG
ABV: 6-7 %
IBU (using Tinseth): 64
Color: 11 SRM
Apparent Attenuation: 80.4 %
Mash Efficiency: 65.0 %
Boil Duration: 90.0 mins
Fermentation Temperature: 66 degF
